ELC Short story 3

1) What would you do if you faced the same situation as Ina, who found her personal pictures on someone's Facebook page?

I think if I was faced with a difficult situation like this, I will also do the same things as Ina. Just like Ina......of course I will try to track down the prowler. For me, actions taken by Ina is one of the best decisions to be made. Although it is difficult to overcome but able to do something for the good of yourself is enough.

2) How would you describe Abang Wan? Provide at least two characteristics and justify your reasons.

Just like other readers, I also put Abang Wan as the potential suspect to be the prowler. But, the questions is why Abang wan??  This is due to the attitude that shown by Abang Wan like love to exult with women when often offer to accompany Ina and her friends. He looks like cares about Ina and her friends for the sake of personal interest. In addition, as a foreign man who only known as a neighbour, undoubtedly Ina will refuse his offer. Although there is disadvantage attitude in Abang Wan,but there is also positive attitude which does not significantly highlighted in the story. At the end of the story, clearly shows that Abang Wan is a kind hearted but maybe misconstrued by Ina and the readers. To prove that, Abang Wan always took care of his neighbour with the intention to help especially when Ina and her friends in trouble and willing to share the very important information about the landlord until causing them to move out from the rented house after knowing the real thing.

3) State two moral values that you have learned from the story. Justify and elaborate your reasons.

Overall, short story the prowler has attracted my attention because there is element of suprise at the end of the story line which is absolutely not expected by the readers. Suitable with the title of this short story "The Prowler", there are numerous of moral values that can serve as lesson to the readers. This short story can encourage readers to always be careful and adapt  with variety environment of  life which we don't know forms and threats that may be present to ourselves. Therefore, as a precautionary measure, we should frequently be alert and take serious attention to all things that happen in our daily live. Next, we also should learn not to be too easy to trust outsiders. This will cause us too easily deceived by others. In other words, no exaggeration to say that if we too easy to trust others without doubtful, then others will take advantage on us. For example Ina which is too believe to the landlord while he was the real prowler who pose danger to Ina and her friends.

ELC short story 2

The Powdery-scented Envelope

1) If you were Ila in this story and Fatin is getting married to Khairul Awang, would you go to the wedding?

As Ila, I will attend to the wedding between Fatin and Khairul Awang. In my opinion, even Khairul Awang is Ila first love but this story was happened ten years ago. So, If I was Ila, I will forget all the ordeal that had happened and try to start a new and better life. In addition, Fatin is also one of the close cousin to Ila. Based on this relationship, avoid from this misunderstanding is not a wise decision that should be made by Ila due to this will absolutely aggravate the relationship between Ila and Fatin.

2) Do you like your ex to b friends with your own siblings or relatives? Why?

In the opinion of the public, ex means the loss of  loved one. So, break the relationship is one of the way to forget everything that had happened. Honestly, I actually don't care if my ex to be friends with my own siblings or relatives because for me the terms ex does not mean to not have any relationship. If ex friends with family members, it will remain the relationship even as a friends. This situation leads us to be more easier to accept the fact than reject the fact. This also will leads us easier to start a new and better life.

3) Imagine that you are the writer of this short story. Write your own ending that involves Ila and Fatin.

At first, I feel puzzle about the ending in this short story. I still curious about what happen next to both Ila and Fatin. So, with this question I can create the ending that I want to this story. After Ila realized her mistake against Fatin. Ila return to the village to meet with Fatin in order to apologize for any misunderstanding that occurred. As a cousin, Ila also apologized for her attitude for called Fatin as hijacker and cause them did not speak for nearly ten years. As a result, Ila still comes to Fatin's wedding ceremony, and their relationship becomes more closely. Once married, Fatin move to capital city of Malaysia to follow her husband. While Ila return to the village to take care of her mother and to find peace in her life that has long been plagued with various of problems. All the experience that has been through has been maturing Ila. For Ila, this is the right time and place for her to start a new life just like ten years ago. 

ELC short story 1

Assalamualaikum, today I would like to answer several questions about short story ( Twelve and not stupid ).

1) If you were "I" in the story, what would you think of the relationship between Papa and Auntie May? Provide some reasons. 

I would think about the relationship between Papa and Auntie May is maybe they have special relationship . This is due to the relationship between the two of them look like vey friendly. Papa also do not want me to tell the truth to Mama about why I was invited late by Papa, and Papa also told me not to tell about Auntie May to Mama. Moreover, behaviour that shown by Papa has reinforce the situation that they were in love.

2) Do you like the story in general? why?

Overall, I do not like this short story because it encourages the reader to be a liar. In the view of adult, maybe she is only 12 years old but that does not mean he does not have to know the real situation of what had happened.  In my opinion, as a young girl, that does not mean that he can not distinguish those who is lying and who is telling the truth and this situation very compatible with the title twelve and I not stupid.

3) Imagine that you are going to film this short story. Describe the film in terms of the choice of the actors/actresses, scene and place. Provide some reasons to your description.

To be honest I do not know a lot in the film industry, but If I going to film this short story, characters Papa, Mama, Shasha, and Auntie May must be appropriate in order to make the story more interesting than the original storyline. In my opinion, the characters Papa and Mama must had a professional career because they were busy to spend time with their family. For Shasha character, the actress needs children who is eloquent in speech and character Auntie May maybe a teacher who has extensive experience with children to highlight the Shasha character more effectively. Scene in this film maybe at home, so it seemed natural and appropriate to the story. The film take Capital city of Malaysia as the main place to make the film more dramatic with various places of interest.
